Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Returns To Action With Viking Invitational


CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women’s tennis team will continue its fall slate this weekend, hosting the seventh annual Viking Invitational. The three-day tournament, which will run from Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22, will take place in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on the Cleveland State University campus.

2023 Viking Invitational Field
Cleveland State will welcome three other teams to the MMTP for the Viking Invitation this weekend, as Duquesne, Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State will compete in the three-day tournament.  

2023 Viking Invitational Schedule
Friday, October 20 | 1 Round of Singles, 2 Rounds of Doubles (CSU doubles starting at 1:30, CSU singles starting at 3:30)
Saturday, October 21 | 1 Round of Singles, 2 Rounds of Doubles (CSU singles starting at 10:00, CSU doubles starting at 1:30)
Sunday, October 16 | 1 Round of Singles (CSU singles starting at 12:30) 

2023 Viking Invitational Scoring
At the conclusion of play this weekend, there will be a Viking Invitational Singles Champion and a Viking Invitational Doubles Champion. Points will be awarded based on the lineup position, with the singles player and doubles team with the most points after three days of play crowned champions.

2023 Fall Campaign
This will mark the second of four tournaments for the Vikings this fall, with Cleveland State also set to compete at the Rocket Invite (October 27-28) and Bronco Super Challenge (November 10-12). 

Last Time Out
Cleveland State opened the 2023 fall campaign back in September, competing at Thunder in the Mountains. Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario both went 2-1 in singles to pace the Vikings, while Mikaela Konstantinova made her Cleveland State debut.
