First deportation flight to Venezuela under Biden

The Biden administration has resumed deportations to Venezuela under a new policy.

Deportations to the country had been on pause for four years since the Trump administration suspended them, citing civil unrest and safety concerns for deportees. More than half a million Venezuelans have crossed the southern US border since 2020.

The first flight since the ban was lifted took off from Harlingen, Texas and landed in Caracas on Wednesday. It was carrying nearly 130 migrants, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
