Nadal: I started training more than a month ago but I take it one day at a time

Rafa Nadal has shed some light on his plans to return to the tennis court.

The tennis player from Manacor chose the Museo del Traje in Madrid to launch a line of food supplements aimed at women and men over the age of 35 who play sports, either regularly or occasionally, to help them take care of and improve their physical and mental state.

Nadal is working hand in hand with Cantabria Labs, whose president, Juan Matji, is co-founder of the new line of supplements. The Spaniard has been an ambassador for the pharmaceutical brand for years, specifically for is sunscreen.

Those in attendance took advantage of the opportunity and asked Rafa how his comeback bid is going.

“I’m training more now than a month ago but I’m taking it one day at a time. Let’s see if I have the chance to increase the intensity to come back little by little,” said Nadal.

Nadal not setting a return date

The winner of 22 majors wants to be cautious and wouldn’t mention a possible return date given he is still experiencing some discomfort.

“My first idea would be to return in Australia but I can’t tell you. I’m able to train a little more, which for me is a step forward,” he said.

“I’m in less pain but I still have some discomfort. If I had less pain, I could give you a date.”

Nadal admitted that this is all new to him, as he’s never experienced this type of injury in his career before.

“I’m on the right path but I’m in unknown territory because it’s an injury I haven’t had before,” said Nadal.

“Even so, I’m still looking forward to it. I wish I could know when I’m coming back but that’s not the case. I tried to come back for the clay season but it wasn’t to be.

“The pressure has always been from me personally because I have always been a demanding person with myself.”
