SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis junior Indya Nespor and freshman Ana Chavez Sanchez continued singles play at the ITA Mountain Regionals on Thursday. 

In the B Draw of the round of 32, Nespor defeated Idaho senior Rachelle Starreveld with a shutout 6-0 first set, followed by a 6-4 second set victory, advancing to the round of 16, where she faced Colorado’s Anya Nelson and came out victorious in a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win to move on to the semifinals. 

Chavez Sanchez who also competed in the B Draw, posted a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win over Idaho freshman Ida Johansson to move on to the round of 16 where she was defeated by Montana sophomore Hailey Murphy in a 6-2, 7-6 second set tiebreaker loss.

Utah State women’s tennis continues play at the ITA Mountain Regionals on Friday, Oct. 19.
