The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner Thursday identified two people killed in a hit-and-run collision in Pasadena.

Police said Thursday the collision occurred when a speeding white Lincoln Navigator heading north on Raymond Avenue went around a car stopped at a stop sign and ran through an intersection, striking a Nissan Versa with two occupants which was driving eastbound on Penn Street.

According to the medical examiner’s office, 63-year-old Antonio Mendoza Hernandez died at the scene and 33-year-old Veralice Yanira Membreno Orellana was pronounced dead at a hospital.

According to the Pasadena Star-News, police said the SUV had been stolen in Altadena shortly before the collision.

The driver and passenger of the Navigator fled from the scene on foot. There were no suspect descriptions.

The impact sent the Versa into the northeast curb while the Navigator continued north on Raymond, striking a parked Ford F-150 on the west curb line. 

Police supplied surveillance camera video which captured the initial crash.

The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to search for the driver and passenger of the Navigator.
