Lizzo Has Been Accused of Being ‘Blindsided’ by ‘Achievement After Achievement’

Lizzo was accused of being “blindsided” by “success after success.”

Lizzo’s strange behavior at work with her team got her in trouble when three of her team members accused the About Damn Time singer of sexual and racial abuse at work and making it a hostile place to work.

People magazine quoted a person close to Lizzo’s team as saying, “She’s been building and building her life and career, and getting achievement after achievement. It blindsided her and her team and is a wakeup call that all of that can be instantly diminished by something like this, just overnight.”

The 35-year-old singer talked about all the claims on social media, saying that she is “not the villain” and that the charges against her were “too outrageous” not to talk about.

“These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelming disappointing,” she wrote on Instagram. “My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed.”

The dancers on the Good As Hell singer’s crew brought the lawsuit against Lizzo, her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., and the leader of her dance team, Shirlene Quigley, on August 1, 2023, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The lawsuit, which the plaintiffs’ lawyer got from a news site, said that Lizzo put them under a lot of pressure for touching naked performers at a club in Amsterdam and made fun of their weight.
