Preseason Section 9 basketball showcase event to feature 23 girls, 48 boys

The start of high school basketball practice is still a month away but the top players in Section 9 will get an early start next weekend.

The sixth annual Mid-Hudson Hoops Showcase – presented by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York – will be held at Goshen High School on Sunday, October 29. There will be a girls game at 10 a.m., followed by a boys underclassman game at 11:30 a.m. and then a boys senior game at 1 p.m.

Players were nominated by their high school coach and selected by a committee.

“The Showcase has been a fun event for players and coaches,’’ said BCANY local director Chris Russo. “The games give players in our area the opportunity to play with and against the best players we have and highlight their talent to the college coaches in attendance.’’

“It is a fun way to start the season and promote the players in our area,’’ said Todd Rose, past BCANY local president.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and children under-12 are free. All proceeds support BCANY activities in Section 9.

Chosen players will be divided up for two teams before the contests.
