Letters to the editor: Benko receives support

Letters to the Editor

Support Beth Benko for Port Clinton school board

I would like to express my full-hearted support for Beth Benko’s reelection to the Port Clinton City School District Board of Education. Born and raised in Port Clinton, Beth was a stellar PCHS Scholar-Athlete in the 1980s and continues to positively impact her hometown. She is an attorney, CPA, and local small business owner, providing school supplies to thousands of students each year, including donating back-to-school supplies for all Bataan elementary students for the past two years. She has 16 years of experience and proven results on the PC school board, not the least of which is the district’s current 4.5 star rating from the state of Ohio. Please vote to reelect Beth Benko on or before Nov. 7.Nancy Dunham

Mental health issue is worth supporting

My name is Danny Sanchez, the mayor of Fremont. Through my work as a mayor, I have come to realize and understand the depth to which mental health challenges are plaguing our community. Unfortunately, Fremont and Sandusky County are not immune to these challenges. However, there is one thing that every resident of our community should be proud of — our local Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.

I’ve been impressed by the way that the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board plans, implements, and brings its programs to the residents of Sandusky County in a cost-effective and transparent manner.

The Mental Health Board not only ensures that services are available to residents, but also continuously seeks additional federal and state resources for our community. The board understands the importance of availability of treatment services and understands the need for education and recovery support services.

I am proud to be support this impressive group of public servants. I would like to thank them for their continued effort to improve the mental health of the residents of our county and encourage you to support them as well. Please do so by voting “Yes” to the Mental Health and Recovery Levy on Nov. 7.

Mental health levy needs support this November

As a county commissioner and fire chief of the Lindsey Fire Department, I have seen the severity that mental illness has on our community. The loss of productivity and the impact on one’s quality of life are just two costs when these illnesses go untreated. The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board works hard to bring resources to our community to minimize such losses. Their local levy funds help to cover critical services such as crisis intervention, counseling, psychiatry, and grief support services. When people in need can access these services then they can get into recovery and resume a good quality of life.Your taxes will not increase — this is a renewal levy — and your taxes will help assist Sandusky County residents only. I am voting Yes for the Mental Health and Recovery Levy, and I ask that you do the same. Together we can help keep these critical resources in Sandusky County for a healthier and more productive community. Vote Yes on the mental health levy on Nov. 7.
