From cats to historical icons to aliens, Heidi Klum is not short of inspiration for Halloween costume ideas and the German-American model and TV personality regularly surprises fans with her choices.
Klum made her name modelling for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1998 and since went on to model for Victoria’s Secret before changing to TV and appearing on Germany’s Next Topmodel and Project Runaway, earning an Emmy for the latter.
But she is also known for her spooky season outfits, so what are the best five that she has managed to stun onlookers with?
5th: Cleopatra, September 3rd, 2012
It is unlikely anybody had the Egyptian queen on their bingo lists as a Halloween outfit but it did not stop Klum from donning a golden dress and large crown to sit on her head. Coupled with some white for contrast, her outfit took the form of bird wings below her arms.
It was a dazzling costume that no doubt caught the eyes of anyone it managed to appear in the peripheral vision of.
4th: As a cat, October 31, 2007
This one was a simple but effective costume as she donned a black and grey cat costume to portray the much loved feline friends.
Make-up darkened parts of her face to add to the design and she even wore the fangs that the animal loves to use to hunt down rodents and other prey.
Not her most flamboyant idea, but it’s a good one regardless.
3rd: Alien, October 31, 2019
Aliens are not uncommon at Halloween but I don’t think anyone posing as an extraterrestrial visitor would go to quite the same lengths as Klum did for her 2019 party outfit.
The custom choice was a practically naked alien with flesh stripped from portions of the body such as the feet and shoulders and intestines, with other parts exposing the brain and intestines.
She doubled with her husband for this outfit, as he posed as a bloodied astronaut, presumably attacked by the alien she was portraying.
2nd: The Human Body, October 29th, 2011
Over the years, the model has had her own anatomy gazed at more than once but this time she decided to model as a flesh-stripped walking body, exposing what the muscles on the human form to any viewers of her.
It isn’t something you’d expect to be scary or intimidating, but it’s rather uneasy to look at, let alone see walking towards you.
1st: As an ape
This costume is almost believable as Klum took a path back through the time to the earlier days of human evolution.
Cloaked in black fur and facial prosthetics, she’s unrecognisable but it works really well. You can imagine someone’s fear as they turned around to see an ape right behind them in a dimly lit room.
The costume was no doubt inspired by the ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ reboot, which hit cinemas in 2011 and starred James Franco as a virologist.
