New Store Selling Home Decor, International Food Opens In Baltimore County

NOTTINGHAM, MD — A new store selling home decor and international food is now open in Nottingham.

This is the first Baltimore County location for World Market, located in The Avenue at White Marsh. It’s also Maryland’s second World Market. The other is in Rockville. Headquartered in California, World Market has 239 stores in 38 states.

“World Market is excited to be opening our second store in the state of Maryland,” World Market President Eric Hunter said in an April 20 press release. “We believe THE AVENUE at White Marsh is the perfect location to introduce our unique brand to the Baltimore area. We look forward to growing our customer base here for years to come.”

The Avenue announced Monday that World Market is now open. A ribbon-cutting will kick off the grand opening Thursday at 10 a.m.

Customers who make the first 100 transactions each day from Thursday through Sunday will get a free tote bag. There will be food and drink samples, giveaways and more throughout the weekend for all customers.

“Doors are open at World Market! Come inside and get a glimpse of this beautiful new store!” The Avenue said Monday on Facebook.

World Market sells everything from couches to Japanese candy.

Vanessa Farmer Rush used to visit World Market when she lived in the South. The only thing she will miss is the alcohol section, which is not allowed in Baltimore County.

“I love this store. My 22-year-old dining room table from World Market has survived several moves and is still going strong,” Rush said Monday on Facebook. “The one I frequented when I lived in Alabama had a wonderful wine and beer selection.”

Perry Hall resident Jenny Stout shares the excitement.

“When I would go visit my birth mom in AZ, going to World Market was always a must,” Stout said Monday on Facebook. “[I’m] so glad that one is local now.”

World Market spans more than 15,000 square feet at 8115 – D Honeygo Blvd. That’s located next to J.Crew.

World Market is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Customers can learn more and shop online at worldmarket.com.
