Five doctors are allegedly involved in a gruesome plan to use deceased patients’ medical implants without their families’ knowledge or prior consent. According to Reuters, one of the suspects has already been detained, “waiting for the inquiry on suspicions of abuse of power and bribe taking.” Authorities claim that hundreds of cardiac devices were reused, possibly endangering patients. According to a statement by prosecutors published by Reuters, “a major part of the implants indicated by the doctor… were not essential and were motivated by bogus diagnoses or by previously prescribed medication that would induce specific symptoms.”
