Two Texas Men’s Tennis players in brothers Micah and Johan Braswell punched their tickets to the semifinals in the singles main draw where they will face each other, and freshman Lucas Brown secured a spot in the singles consolation final at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Sunday.

In singles, the Longhorns won two of their four total matches in the main draw quarterfinals. Senior 2 seed No. 17 Micah Braswell defeated 7 seed No. 43 Sebastian Gorzny of TCU in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, and sophomore 6 seed No. 45 Jonah Braswell took down 3 seed No. 26 Jack Pinnington of TCU in three sets, 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1. 

Both junior No. 16 Pierre-Yves Bailly and senior No. 28 Siem Woldeab fell in the quarterfinals, with Bailly dropping his match to 9 seed No. 82 Pedro Vives of TCU, 7-5, 6-3, and Woldeab falling to 5 seed No. 38 Tadeas Paroulek of Baylor in a match decided by a third-set tiebreaker, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (3). 

Brown represented Texas in the singles consolation bracket and picked up two wins on the day, both of which were over players from Texas A&M. Brown first defeated 9 seed Giulio Perego, 6-3, 6-2, in the consolation quarterfinals, and went on to take down Luke Casper, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (7), in the semifinals.

Texas dropped its lone doubles match on Sunday, with the 5 seed senior pair of Evin McDonald and Cleeve Harper falling in quarterfinals to 4 seed No. 13 Pedro Vives and Sebastian Gorzny of TCU, 8-4.

The semifinals in the singles main draw and the final in the consolation draw are all set for Monday at 9 a.m. CT. In addition to the match between the Braswells, Brown will take on SMU’s Eric Hadigian.
