The Better Online Learning Together conference, also known as the BOLT conference, is set from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Groups will meet online in 30-minute and one-hour Zoom sessions throughout the day. Conference-goers can choose from topics designed for online program coordinators, online instructors and those who want to incorporate online learning tools and strategies into face-to-face courses. This year’s conference includes a session on artificial intelligence in higher education. Other topics focus on improving instructor and student interaction, course design, grading and accessibility, issues specific to Blackboard Ultra and workforce development. Global Campus staff will share best practices and insights gained from academic departments, national organizations and industry partners. An instructor panel and student panel are also planned.
Peer networking will begin at 8:45 a.m., and Cheryl Murphy, vice provost for distance education, will open the conference at 9 a.m. Attendees also can learn about Global Campus teams that support U of A distance education efforts, including the Online Student Liaison Office and teams providing assistance with compliance, technology, media production, marketing and recruiting.
