Rebecca Rodgers has been involved with art from an early age, receiving artist awards from age four through college and beyond.
While in high school, she was chosen to attend the Governor’s School for Visual Arts at the University of Richmond. She studied English and Art at Meredith College and Ferrum University, she also studied abroad a year in England at Humberside University.
For this artist, life has been an adventure: backpacking in Europe and staying in hostels in Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Italy. Upon returning to the United States, she headed for Wyoming where she worked as a Camp Jack for a Wilderness Ranch in the Bridger National Forest for two years.
She loved Wyoming and stayed during winters, working at the airport and for an ophthalmologist.
Rodgers’ preferred medium is acrylics, mixed media, resin, and Encaustic. Her animal paintings can be realistic detail or comical fun.
Rodgers has been a member of the Convergence Art Guild, Halifax, Danville Art League, Danville, and Fort Madison Area Arts Association, Ft. Madison, Iowa. She has taken a pastel workshop under French artist Cecile Houel; and was the featured Artist at Fort Madison Area Arts Association, winning awards for Mixed Media paintings titled “Coffee Talk” and “Snore Wars”.
She also has an Elephant Painting hanging in the Ft. Madison Hospital Reception waiting room. Her work is displayed in several homes here in South Boston and Halifax.
A recent work was a collaboration with Susie Robbins, featuring an Alice in Wonderland theme, on a piano for downtown South Boston.
She is pleased to be sponsored by Parson-Bruce Art Association in the upcoming Art Show at the Prizery opening reception Nov. 2, from 5-7 p.m.
