SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Gas prices are expected to drop ahead of the record setting Memorial Day travel week.

According to a press release from AAA, Springfield area motorists pay in the lowest percentile in Missouri for gas at an average of $3.11.

“Gas prices may fluctuate through the end of May with nationwide record travel anticipated for Memorial Day,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabbaria in the press release.

The current lowest price in Missouri is $3.03 in the Joplin area.

A record 38.4 million Americans will drive to their Memorial Day destination this year.
