Multi-million-dollar investment in medical technology coming to Minnesota company

Minn. (KTTC) – Some major federal funding is coming to Minnesota to support medical technological innovation.

Monday, Senator Amy Klobuchar announcement that Minnesota MedTech 3.0 was designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce as one of the 31 inaugural Tech Hubs in the country.

The goal of MedTech 3.0 is to bring together Minnesota hospitals, research institutions and medical device manufacturers to integrate artificial intelligence, data science and device manufacturing into the industry.

The Regional Technology and Innovation Hub Program was created by the CHIPS & Science Act, which Klobuchar worked to pass last year.

“We are the state that brought the world everything from the post it note to the pacemaker, and this is truly our next chapter. We are home to world class hospitals, treatment centers and medical tech companies. We have Mayo. We have Children’s, Hazelden Betty Ford, and of course Medtronic,” Sen. Klobuchar said.

Each of the 31 organizations will receive approximately $40-70 million across several projects through the program.
