On Thursday, Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Verizon held a tech event at its new Accessibility Technology and Innovation Lab in Freehold, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility, which will continue driving advancements in accessibility practices, technologies and innovations.

Fred Moltz, Verizon’s chief accessibility officer, and Craig Silliman, executive vice president and president of Verizon Global Services, were among the speakers, honored guests and accessibility experts on hand at the inspiring event.

During his opening remarks at today’s ceremony, Moltz described Verizon’s new lab as a safe space — one that’s been five years in the making — for employees, customers, advocacy groups, partners and accessibility innovators.

“We want to make sure everybody is welcomed here,” Moltz said. “We just want to do better for our customers, our employees and the greater world that’s out there. We just want to do better for our customers, our employees and the greater world that’s out there.”

Event participants joined Verizon’s efforts to move the world forward through diversity, equity & inclusion. The event represents Verizon’s latest effort to make tech experiences more inclusive in ways that strengthen accessibility and showcase the benefits of Verizon Innovation Labs. And it all aligns with Citizen Verizon, the company’s responsible-business plan for economic, environmental and social advancement.
