May 20, 2024, Press Release from Visit Greater Lima: May, 20, 2024-Visit Greater Lima is excited to participate in National Travel and Tourism Week, May 19 through 25. The travel industry is essential to the success of Allen County’s economy, continuing development, and workforce. According to the U.S. Travel Association, travel spending across the United States generated $89 billion in state and local revenue in 2023. That revenue supports essential services like education, emergency response, public safety and more within each community.
“We are so appreciative of our hospitality workforce who welcome travelers from all over the world to our community,” stated Betsy Billingsley, Executive Director of Visit Greater Lima. “This week especially, we want to recognize that they are often the link between the amazing attractions and offerings of Lima and Allen County. From restaurants to hotels to retail, travel benefits all aspects of our growth and stability.”
Visit Greater Lima will celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week by delivering appreciation gifts to each of the hotels within the county, as well as conduct a special social media campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of the travel industry.
“We’re all ambassadors of our community, and this week is a chance to highlight the work that we do on a daily basis, without fanfare or acknowledgement-welcoming visitors is truly what we do,” Billingsley stated.
