Oman launches cybersecurity award to encourage innovation

Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has launched a special award to recognise and promote local expertise and innovations in the cybersecurity sector.

The Hadatha Cybersecurity Award – a national initiative proposes to evaluate the achievements and performance of individuals, as well as government and private entities for the coveted recognition, which in turn can raise the sultanate’s position in the global cybersecurity landscape.

The award, part of the National Programme for the Cybersecurity Industry, includes categories for Individuals, Enterprises, and Emerging Small and Medium Enterprises.

It seeks to acknowledge contributions that significantly impact the economy and society, including efforts in cybersecurity awareness, academic research, and effective cybersecurity practices among businesses.

The Individual category awards initiatives that have social and economic impact, including efforts in cybersecurity awareness, academic research, and independent cybersecurity projects.

The Enterprise category honours institutions that have improved their cybersecurity measures and contributed to social responsibility by aligning with the cybersecurity industry programme, while the SMEs category covers projects yielding economic advantages.

The Hadatha Cybersecurity Award not only celebrates advancements but also stimulates the growth of Oman’s cybersecurity capabilities.
