MADISON, Wis. — This week around the United States, students and adults will commit themselves to living a drug-free lifestyle by participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Red Ribbon Week.
The national event began in 1985 in memory of the late U.S. Marine and DEA Agent Enrique (Kiki) S. Camarena, who dedicated his life to dismantling drug operations. His friends and family spread the event across the United States, and it gained wider attention after First Lady Nancy Reagan served as honorary chairperson.
