OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and three schools in Otsego County are uniting to spread kindness across the community.
Dozens of kindness posters with uplifting phrases and words are scattered throughout the halls of Gaylord, St. Mary’s and Johannesburg-Lewiston high school buildings.
The kindness posters were created by the Otsego Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee, or YAC.
Members said they hope the posters remind fellow students of their importance and that they are not alone in any of there struggles.
“I hope that they can see the posters and be reminded everyday that whatever they are going through in their own life, to help apply these posters and the importance that they make in our community. And just apply it to your own life and everything you’re going through and all the challenges,” said Emery Blust.
Blust said this was the first year for this project and she hopes it can become a yearly project for the Youth Advisory Committee.
