James, charged with stabbing of stepfather, committed to mental health facility


KINGMAN — A Bullhead City man charged with fatally stabbing his stepfather is being committed to a state mental facility for the remainder of his life or until deemed competent to stand trial.

Mohave County Superior Court Judge Doug Camacho ordered Monday that the court maintain custody over 49-year-old John Ashley James and ordered that a guardian be appointed for James. He also ordered that James remain in jail until he is sent to an inpatient psychiatric facility while awaiting space at a secure state mental health facility.
