Before delivery

What’s the story behind the brand?

Ashley is an American brand that has been selling affordable furniture and decor for every area of your home since 1997. Founded in Anchorage, Alaska, it now has over 2,000 showrooms around the world and is available at a variety of retailers like Amazon, Raymour & Flanigan, as well as their own website.

Price: How much does it cost? Are there payment plans available?

If purchased directly from Ashley there is a six-month financing plan available for this sectional. Meanwhile, Amazon may or may not offer a payment plan depending on your account.

What are the upholstery or customization options? Did you choose any?

There are two color options available: Dark gray and navy blue. I opted for the dark gray as it seemed easier to style in the long-run. That said, I wish it came in more colors!

What is the lead time for customization, manufacturing, and delivery?

This is not a custom product which means it’s usually in-stock. Delivery typically takes one to two weeks.

Delivery + assembly

What was the delivery process like?

When I purchased this sectional from Ashley I opted for their $79.99 No-Hassle Delivery option. Two people brought the box to my door, placed it in the room of my choice, unpacked it, assembled it, and left with the packaging all in about 20 minutes! Amazon has similar options available at checkout.

What was the assembly process like? How long did it take and how many people?

It was very straightforward since the base of this sofa is only two pieces and the only loose cushions are the back ones. Originally two men did it, but I’ve done it in 10 minutes or less while moving.

Is the sleeper sofa suitable for particular decor styles? If so, which?

It’s a pretty neutral style, but leaning more toward traditional with the curved arms. Most sectionals I saw in this price range leaned toward midcentury silhouettes so I think this item is a rare find.

Is it durable / practical in a modern home?

I’ve now had this sofa for about five years and it has held up quite well to daily use by people and pets. It’s also very easy to set up the pullout bed and to reset it as a sofa on my own. When I purchased this couch I knew I wanted a chaise sectional but it was tough to find a sturdy-looking option within my 21-year-old price range. Interestingly enough, the price is still the same 5 years later!

After delivery

What are the dimensions (both regular and pullout)? How does it fit in your space when it’s not expanded versus when it is? Would it be better suited for a different type of home?
