Office of Management & Budget, Parks, and Solid Waste Employees Showcase Innovation

On April 10, Pinellas County hosted innovation tours for the Transforming Local Government conference attendees. The conference, organized by the Alliance for Innovation, provides a platform for local government professionals to share best practices. Pinellas County was proud to showcase its innovative initiatives to fellow local government professionals from across the United States.

Attendees explored the County’s Solid Waste Disposal Complex, learning about Pinellas County’s goal of achieving zero waste to landfill by 2050. The tour received great feedback for its informative and hands-on experience.

The Fort De Soto Park tour provided attendees with insights into the challenges of managing over 1,000 acres. It highlighted the successful continuous improvement projects undertaken by the park staff, in collaboration with the Strategic Performance Management (SPM) team within the Office of Management & Budget. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the rangers’ expertise and commitment.

The tours were organized by the SPM team, with instrumental roles played by Solid Waste’s Leslie Caplin, Ashley Wyland, and Emily LeMay; Office of Management & Budget’s Olivia Burrell-Jackson and Sophia Romeus; and Parks & Conservation Resources’ David Harshbarger, Justin Dubois, and Robin Orr. We extend our gratitude to all the staff members who contributed to these successful tours, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the local government community.
