
A Fairfax man was jailed after he allegedly rammed a police cruiser.
The incident happened early Monday morning on the western end of Columbia Pike in Arlington. Police say an officer spotted a car with stolen tags in a parking lot, leading to an unsuccessful attempt to flee by the 25-year-old suspect.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2024-05220004, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:29 a.m. on May 20, an officer observed a parked, occupied vehicle displaying stolen tags in a parking lot. With the assistance of additional responding officers, a vehicle stop was conducted, during which the suspect reversed his vehicle into an officer’s cruiser and hit a fence and parked car while attempting to flee the scene. No injuries were reported. The suspect subsequently exited the vehicle and was non-complaint with officers’ commands before he was taken into custody. While in custody, the suspect provided false personal identifying information to officers and upon accurately identifying the suspect, it was determined he was wanted out of other jurisdictions. During the course of the investigation, suspected narcotics were recovered from the suspect vehicle which was confirmed to be stolen out of Fairfax County, VA. [The suspect], 25, of Fairfax, VA was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Destruction of Property (x2), Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance (x2), Possession of Schedule I/II Narcotics (x2) and Identity Theft. He was held without bond.
