
ROCHESTER, Minn. – A guilty plea is entered over a crash that left one person with life-threatening injuries.
Christian Lloyd Russ, 21 of Rochester, was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation for an incident on May 16, 2023. The Rochester Police Department says Russ riding a motorized scooter when he ran a red light at the intersection of Elton Hills Drive NW and 19th Street NW.
Police say Russ crashed into a car, injuring him and a male passenger on the scooter.
Court documents state the passenger suffered serious, life-threatening injuries that included a compound fracture of the leg and the severing of the femoral artery. Officers at the scene say the passenger’s femur was fully exposed and detached from the lower part of his leg.
Investigators say an analysis of Russ’ blood found evidence of amphetamines and methamphetamines.
Russ has now pleaded guilty to one count of criminal vehicular operation. His sentencing is set for July 10.
