
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Texas Tech Health El Paso celebrated over 100 graduates during their 12th commencement ceremony in downtown El Paso.
On Friday evening, 115 graduates of the Foster School of Medicine received their Doctor of Medicine degrees in a commencement ceremony held at the Plaza Theatre at 125 W. Mills Avenue.

Among the more than 100 graduates, only 17 are from El Paso and only nine will stay in a residency program at Texas Tech Health El Paso, according to the university.
Texas Tech Health El Paso said that, since 2009, El Paso County has seen 66 percent of physicians– from 1,034 to 1,715– as a direct result of four-year medical schools and residency programs in the borderland.
Also, according to Texas Tech Health El Paso, the Foster School of Medicine is one of the first to include a medical Spanish requirement as well as community service and cultural components.
