Pilot mobile health clinic launched in Monterey County

The county of Monterey Health Department’s Clinic Services Bureau said they started testing a mobile health clinic on Friday. It is the newest way for county residents to access health care services. The mobile health clinic comes equipped with two exam rooms and can provide primary care, mental health and dental services. The pilot program began at Sherwood Elementary School and they applied oral fluoride to kindergarteners. Beginning in June, the mobile clinic will be offering dental services once a week at the Health Department Administration building in Salinas. Later in the year, the mobile clinic will be sent to school and community sites in the county to provide primary care and dental services for a total of 40 hours per week.“With the launch of our new mobile clinic, we are bringing essential health care services directly to the communities that need them the most. This initiative is a significant step towards improving access to quality medical care for underserved populations, ensuring that no one is left behind due to barriers to care,” said Prashant Shinde, bureau chief, Clinic Services Bureau.
