13-year-old dies in four vehicle crash in Jackson County, Oh.

A 13-year-old died Friday following a four-car crash on State Route 93 that left the road closed for several hours, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say that the crash occurred near McArthur village when one vehicle struck the rear end of a car being driven by James Coleman, 36, waiting to turn left across the northbound lane, pushing the car into the southbound lane causing another collision.

Coleman’s vehicle was then hit off the western edge of the road, striking a fourth vehicle waiting to turn onto State Route 93, according to the news release.

Coleman was taken to Grant Hospital in Columbus with serious injuries and his 13-year-old passenger was pronounced dead by the Vinton County Coroner.

All others involved in the wreck received only minor injuries and the road was closed for almost three hours as cleanup took place.
