TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Dozens attended The Museum of the Kansas National Guard as they held their third annual car and truck show Saturday morning.
The show was a fundraiser for the museum and featured a variety of vehicles from Mustangs to Pontiacs, along with free cookout meals for exhibitors and attendees.
Car show organizer, Troy Abel, said events like these bring the community together and provide a new viewing experience every time.
“It means a lot, especially on a day like this, Memorial Day Weekend. A lot of the more patriotic folks are looking for a good way to celebrate,” said Abel. “We’re hoping that this is a great place that they like to come out, hangout, and enjoy a good time with fellow car enthusiasts, fellow military members, and just enjoy the day.”
Car exhibitor, Billy Dinkel, expressed his passion for the show by bringing out his 1967 Pontiac GTO.
“I have fun, I’m a people person and I love to be around these guys — it’s good to get out,” said Dinkel. “Just because you grow old doesn’t mean you have to grow up.”
Top three trophies and top twenty plaques were presented at the end of the show.
KNG Museum is located at 125 SE Airport E. Drive.
