MARION, Ill. (KFVS) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) are investigating an officer-involved death in Marion.

According to ISP, officers from the Herrin Police Department, assisted by the Energy Police Department and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office were chasing a fleeing motorcycle in Herrin just before 1 a.m. on May 26.

The motorcycle continued to flee eastbound on Illinois Route 13 and collided with a stationary Williamson Co. Sheriff’s Office squad car in Marion.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.

This investigation is ongoing at this time.
