Suspects stole and crashed a woman’s car in Albany, police say


An 80-year-old woman had her car stolen, and then crashed, Friday morning.

According to Albany Police, the incident happened in the vicinity of Delaware and Elizabeth streets around 10:15 a.m. Friday.

The victim told police she was getting into her car when three suspects approached. One of them told the woman to get out of the vehicle and she was in fear for her safety, but was not physically attacked.

She told police the suspects were young, possibly juveniles, but that can’t be confirmed at this time.

Police say the car was found at 12:30 p.m in the 600 block of South Pearl Street, with front end damage along with damage to the driver and passenger sides.

There were no injuries reported.

Police said there is nothing at this time to indicate any connection between this incident and a car theft in East Greenbush Saturday morning.
