
MANHATTAN, IL — Nine people were injured in a two-car crash Sunday night on South State Street (US 52) and Ivanhoe Boulevard in Manhattan, fire officials said.
The crash happened just after 9:03 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan Fire Protection District Chief Steve Malone told Patch. The engine compartment of one car involved caught fire, Malone said.
Nine people suffered non-life-threatening injuries; seven were taken to area hospitals.

The road was closed for approximately an hour while police were on the scene.
