No matter what Dodge, Chevrolet, or Ford may tell you, a muscle car is not real unless it packs an eight-cylinder motor. The first company has a new muscly model in its lineup, which uses the Charger moniker, and since it lacks V8 firepower, we reckon it will face a lot of criticism when it launches. The second one ditched this game altogether, with the last Camaro rolling off the line last year, and the third one remains committed to the eight-cylinder unit with the S650 Mustang.

However, this isn’t about the Mustang, nor the demised Chevy Camaro, but a very special Dodge Challenger that’s not a Hellcat. You are looking at a 2019 R/T Scat Pack Widebody. We all know what lies behind that small (for a modern car) grille, don’t we? It’s a 392 HEMI, a 6.4L V8 that used to channel 485 horsepower (492 ps/362 kW) to the rear wheels through a manual ‘box with six forward gears or an optional automatic when it was still new.

Performance-wise, it was obviously not on par with the mighty Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 of that era or the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, as Dodge had the Hellcat series to rival their likes. However, nearly 500 horsepower from a great naturally aspirated V8 is sufficient for any petrolhead, as long as they’re not into drag racing – or track driving, as the Challenger was not exactly a ballerina.

This copy features an automatic transmission and has just 14,500 miles (23,335 km) under its belt. Thus, it is an almost-new five-year-old muscle car that has been with the same owner ever since it left the factory floor. It sports an Indigo Blue paint finish on top of a Red and Black interior, comes with the original wheels, has a Harman Kardon stereo system, the usual lecture, and two keys. And just so you know, it’s an OEM car that hasn’t been touched with the tuning stick at all.
