“‘What I Got’ is about finding happiness in reality,” Chance shares. “If you really listen, the song is about a ‘look in her eyes,’ her ‘kisses’ and seeing her ‘dance around in my shirt.’ That’s it. All in all, Chancy DeAnne does an impressive job highlighting tales of strength, determination, and an undying love for country culture in her debut EP, Chancy DeAnne. It’s a prime example of how not all is lost in modern-day country music.

A crowd favorite from the album is “Don’t Tell Motel” where Chancy DeAnne’s storytelling lyrics depict the many souls who stop by the “Don’t Tell Motel” across town. It’s a song that highlights the state of feeling lost and sad and washing away those sorrows with a drink at the motel bar. Because if we can’t celebrate those walls that put up with our suffering, what can we celebrate?
