Paris Hilton’s pool safety blunder terrifies seasoned moms: Puddle jumper misuse sparks outcry

Paris Hilton has once again found herself in the spotlight, but this time it’s not for her glamorous lifestyle or business ventures. The “Simple Life” star, 43, has sparked a wave of concern among seasoned moms after a TikTok video surfaced showing her swimming with her 1-year-old son, Phoenix, wearing a puddle jumper incorrectly.

In the video, captioned “Adventures with Baby P,” Hilton is seen carrying her toddler in a hotel pool. Phoenix is sporting a blue floatie that covers his back and arms, but eagle-eyed viewers quickly noticed the life jacket was on backward.

“Hey momma, just a tip from another puddle jumper mom: I think it’s on backwards. But I love this video, pure joy,” one fan commented, amassing over 800 likes. Another chimed in, “The little life jacket is backwards,” while adding, “but you are an amazing mother!!! Enjoy every moment.”

A third commenter reassured the heiress that the mix-up is common among new moms, stating, “His floaties are on backwards. The clip goes in the back but also happens to lots of new moms.” A fourth, who claimed to be a swimming instructor, advised, “Swimming teacher here, see if you can swap the puddle jumper for a float jacket. Gives him the use of his arms to aid his swim journey.”

This is not Paris’ first mistake

Despite the flood of comments, the former reality TV star has yet to respond directly to the concerns. However, she shared another TikTok video on Sunday, showing her and Phoenix enjoying a beach day, seemingly unbothered by the uproar.

This isn’t the first time Hilton has faced parental scrutiny. Earlier this month, she caused a stir after posting photos of her son and 6-month-old daughter, London’s car seats, which were incorrectly facing forward – a setup against the law.

One concerned follower wrote, “Please double-check the car seat manufacturer’s recommendations on if you can use the latch & belt at the same time. Usually, a hard no. Also, rear-facing until 2 years is usually law.”

Taking the feedback in stride, Hilton later posted a clip showing her children correctly strapped in, writing, “Thanks for the mom advice, I’m new to this.” She added, “The #CutesieCrew is now ready for take off in the #SlivingMom van,” and commented, “No one is perfect.”

Hilton is a quick learner

The celebrity, who welcomed Phoenix via surrogate with husband Carter Reum in January 2023 and later had a daughter, London, in November, has openly acknowledged her parenting learning curve. Last week, she vowed to be a strict parent as her kids grow older, telling the Wall Street Journal she plans to closely monitor their cell phone and social media use.

“I hope that they are nerds like their dad and don’t want anything to do with that,” Hilton remarked.

As Hilton navigates the challenges of motherhood under the public eye, one thing is clear: the world is watching her every move, ready to offer advice, criticism, and support.
