Actors’ and Writers’ Strikes Have Pushed the 2023 Emmys to the Following Year

Because of the current writers’ and actors’ strikes in Hollywood, the 2023 Emmys have been moved back nearly six months.

The Television Academy and Fox both said that the 75th Emmy Awards, which will be a big deal, will now be shown in January 2024 instead of the usual September.

Fox said in a press release, “As the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th Anniversary, the show will broadcast live on FOX coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater at LA Live and will honor the talented performers, writers, directors and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year.”

The date change for the event wasn’t a surprise. Last month, vendors for the event told trade publications in Hollywood that they were told to keep an eye out for any news about a date change.

Succession, The White Lotus, Ted Lasso, and The Last of Us are among the most nominated shows this year.

Writers and actors are currently on strike against Hollywood production houses and company executives because they haven’t met their demands for better pay, a better place to work, and protection against the threat of AI.

This week, Disney CEO Bob Iger made an out of the blue comment. He said that he is “personally committed” to finding a way to meet the demands of the creative artists and end the strike.
