7 events in Lancaster County to check out this weekend, from ArtWalk to an East Pete car show


Cars, community, concerts and comic books — it’s what’s on tap in Lancaster County this weekend.

Events to add to your calendar include a bluegrass concert, a Hispanic community night, ArtWalk, Free Comic Book Day, MayFest, a car show and a concert led by immigrant and refugee families.

Here are seven events to check out in Lancaster County this weekend.

Hispanic Community Night

In celebration of Lancaster County’s Hispanic community, Clipper Magazine Stadium will host several dance performances, a concert from the Mariachi Flores band and salsa classes before the game from Lancaster Salsa. Those interested can register for four free tickets, which include admission to the Lancaster Stormers game against the Lexington Legends.

Colebrook Road concert

This weekend, catch a performance from bluegrass band Colebrook Road at West Art. It’ll be one of the only concerts the band will perform in the area through at least the summer, according to bass vocalist Mark Rast.

Free Comic Book Day

Visit some local comic book stores in the area, and leave with a few free comics. Free Comic Book Day takes place Saturday and is a national, informal holiday with several local participants.

MayFest

MayFest is a celebration of all things Maytown, about 3 miles northwest of Marietta. There will be a makers market featuring around 100 handmade vendors, a maypole celebration, activities for kids and adults, food trucks and more. This event is a collaboration between the Maytown Historical Society and the Shank Shoppe.

Spring ArtWalk

More than two dozen local galleries, businesses and artists are participating in this year’s Spring ArtWalk, an event that brings people to Lancaster city to have a self-guided art tour. Many galleries will host special events, exhibitions and talks, among other activities.

Vagabonds Car Show

East Petersburg Community Park will be filled with cars for the 14th annual Vagabonds Car Show. The event will feature many cars, food vendors, a live performance from Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods, door prizes, a fundraiser auction and more. In the event of rain, the event will move to Sunday.

Symphony of Home concert

Music nonprofit Music for Everyone has a program dedicated toward giving free piano lessons to refugee and immigrant families in Lancaster. Saturday, listen to a free concert from those participating in the Symphony of Home program.

“Everyone in our community brings something important to the table, and music is an incredible medium for celebrating that truth,” says program coordinator Jordan Redfield in a press release.
