CUNYAC Tennis Semifinal: Bearcats 6, Lehman 0; Bearcats Play Hunter in Thursday’s Final


The women’s tennis team defeated the Lightning of Lehman College, 6-0, in a CUNYAC Championship semifinal match played on Tuesday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center in Queens.

The Bearcats won all three doubles and three quick singles (#5 and #6 finished at the same time) for the 6-0 shutout that helped them increase their season record to 11-1.

Per post-season rules, the match ended as soon as the first team won their fifth point.

Aishika Yadav and Erica Sheludenko won the first team point at second doubles, 8-0.

The Bearcats clinched the semifinal match victory with Keila Pagan (#5 singles, 6-0, 6-0) and Shanae Love (#6 singles, 6-0, 6-0) winning and finishing their match to send the team to play in their 14th CUNYAC final since 2004.

The Bearcats will play Hunter College on Thursday, October 26, at 3:00 p.m. for the CUNYAC title and berth to the NCAA Tournament.
