This is the only way to shred chicken for recipes. Seriously. It’s genius. #30Seconds #chicken #cookingtips #hacks #dinner #recipe #food #mealprep #whatsfordinner #foodies @donnas92

For me, shredded chicken is the way to go in most recipes. When it says “dice” or “chop,” most times that just translates to “shred” for me. I like the texture better. My local Mexican restaurant even shreds the chicken in my favorite chicken tacos for me instead of chopping (it pays to be a regular!). When I heard you could perfectly shred chicken in a stand mixer, I had to try it. Guess what? This cooking hack works! The chicken is uniform in size and ready in seconds for recipes or a delicious chicken salad.

I shredded cooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but you could also shred boneless chicken thighs. You simply put the cooked chicken into the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Turn it out and in seconds (seriously) the chicken is uniformly, finely shredded.

Use the shredded chicken meat in recipes like chicken enchiladas, chicken casseroles, chicken salad, chicken tacos, chicken flautas or chicken soup. Season the chicken as desired and use in meal prep, too!

Recipe Notes

  • My favorite way to cook the chicken breasts to shred is in a skillet. I season with Morton Nature’s Seasonings or just salt and black pepper and cook in a drizzle of olive oil until cooked through. Sometimes I will poach the chicken breasts in a skillet in a little water, covered, until cooked through.
  • Nutritional value is based on two boneless, skinless chicken breasts used to serve four people.
  • Cooking time of the chicken will depend on how many, what type and how big.
  • Store the chicken in an airtight container or food storage bag in the fridge. You can also freeze it for later.

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Cook the chicken breasts.
  2. Put the chicken breasts into a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
