Cher opened up about her relationship with her boyfriend Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, who is 40 years her junior.
The 77-year-old singer admitted that her age gap with the 37-year-old Universal Music Group executive occasionally creates instances of miscommunication between the pair.
“Sometimes I’m talking to him and he has no idea who I’m talking about … The other day, I said, ‘Do you know who, I don’t know, Clark Gable, [is]?’ Somebody said, ‘Yes, of course,’ but most of my references … He’ll look at me and go, ‘I wasn’t born yet,’” the Grammy Award winner told Extra.

However, Cher explained that the two share a strong connection, though she noted that Edwards was “reserved” and “more obviously shy” compared to her.
“I hate to talk about how happy I am, but no, we have a great time together,” the “Moonstruck” star said.
She continued, “We can talk music. We can talk about everything. He’s a got a great sense of humor, he’s got the cutest son in the world, ever … We just get each other.”
Edwards shares son Slash Electric, 4, with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose, 40. Cher shared son Chaz Bono, 54, with her late ex-husband Sonny Bono. Cher and Bono were married from 1964 to 1975.
She is also mother to Elijah Blue Allman, 47, whom she shared with her late ex-husband Gregg Allman. Cher wed the musician in 1975, but they divorced in 1979.
Cher and Edwards first went public with their romance in November 2022. In an interview with People magazine earlier this week, the “Believe” singer recalled that she was surprised when he texted her following their first brief meeting at Paris Fashion Week in September of last year.
“It was really shocking, because people just don’t give out my number,” she told the outlet about finding out that a mutual friend had shared her digits with him.
Cher continued, “I had been telling all my friends, ‘We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text.’ So I did what I said not to do!”

The “Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” star said she is “not surprised” people are fascinated with their relationship.
“Alexander’s got diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair, and he’s way younger,” she said. “He’s a beautiful man. Also, I think it’s fun to be interested in somebody else’s love life!”
“I hate when people say people are special, but lots of people say I’m special, so I can say that he’s special,” she joked. “No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”

“If you have happiness, you can’t think about how long it’s going to last. You have to think about ‘How does it feel?’ and live in the moment.”
On Oct. 20, the Academy Award winner released her first-ever holiday album, titled “Christmas.”
“This must be the right time, because I was asked forever and starting from Sonny and Cher days,” she told Extra.
“It’s a very strange Christmas album,” Cher explained. “All the tracks are their own little islands. Nothing seems to go together, but when you hear it, it works.”

In her interview with People, Cher also discussed collaborating with Edwards, who produced a song on “Christmas.”
“He’s a great producer,” she said “I let him do ‘Drop Top Sleigh.’ That’s a hard thing to do when you are in love with someone, and then you say, ‘OK, here, take this record and do what you want with it.’ But I had faith. And I was so thrilled.”
