Beyoncé, a famous singer, has challenged her $2.7 million tax bill, which includes fines, in a US tax court.

The singer wants the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to change its assessment of his tax bill for the years 2018 and 2019.

In his lawsuit, the pop star says the IRS made a mistake by not letting him subtract millions of dollars for insurance, management fees, legal and professional services, utilities, taxes, depreciation, and more, including over $850,000 he gave to charity in 2018.

Beyoncé is one of the most famous singers of all time, and her net worth is close to $500 million. Jay Z, her rapper husband, has shares in several famous businesses worth an estimated $2.5 billion.

The Notice of Deficiency led to the request to re-evaluate the singer’s tax obligations. US taxpayers have three months from the date of the notice to question the original assessment by filing a petition.

Forbes says that a trial will be set up as soon as possible, though most cases are settled without going to trial.
