Jelly Roll Settles Trademark Lawsuit With Wedding Band Over Name

Kurt Titchenell, leader of the Philadelphia wedding band Jellyroll, has dropped his trademark lawsuit against country singer Jelly Roll. The suit claimed that Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, infringed on the “Jellyroll” trademark, a name Titchenell’s band has used since 1980. Titchenell filed the lawsuit against DeFord as his recent chart success allegedly caused confusion among fans and pushed the band further down in Google search results. In a statement, Titchenell said he had “settled” the case and reached an “amicable agreement,” although court records do not confirm such a settlement. Although both parties coexisted peacefully before, in the lawsuit, the band sought a court order to stop Jelly Roll from using the name. The band’s attorney cited an upcoming concert at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia as a specific concern. The ‘Son of a Sinner’ singer has not yet released a statement regarding the supposed settlement.
