Action Against Hunger, the global leader in the fight against hunger, is part of the team selected by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)* to lead their flagship Enhancing Local Efforts for Vital, Transformative, and Evidence-Based Nutrition (ELEVATE Nutrition) project. Through this five-year cooperative agreement of up to $100 million, USAID seeks to advance technical leadership focused on improving multi-sectoral nutrition rogramming and outcomes.
ELEVATE will work with country and regional actors that work across the humanitarian to development continuum to support local implementation of high quality multi-sectoral programs and policies to improve nutrition among women and children, particularly during a child’s first 1,000 days, by sharing and facilitating use of relevant learning and best practices between countries and other key stakeholder groups. ELEVATE will leverage Action Against Hunger’s expertise in the prevention and treatment of wasting, or acute malnutrition, including the early identification of wasting in development and fragile settings.
“Action Against Hunger is excited to work alongside USAID, FHI360, other partners, and communities to improve nutrition among women and children around the world through the ELEVATE project. Progress against malnutrition has stagnated in recent years and we need to do everything we can to create a future where no child dies of hunger,” said Dr. Charles E. Owubah, CEO of Action Against Hunger.
Action Against Hunger will collaborate with the lead agency, FHI 360, as well as with partners Bixal, Oxford Policy Management, CNFA: Cultivating New Frontiers In Agriculture, and GEMNET-Health.
