Prince Harry Pays Tribute To Late Mother Princess Diana

Prince Harry paid tribute to the bond that “transcends even the greatest of losses” with his mother, Princess Diana, as he accepted the Pat Tillman Award for service. The award is reserved for individuals in the sporting world who have made impactful contributions to the lives of others, and is awarded by the sports channel ESPN. The Duke of Sussex was recognized for founding the Invictus Games, a sports competition for injured and sick servicemen and women. In Harry’s speech, he acknowledged the family of Pat Tillman, including his mother, Mary, who had previously expressed her disapproval of Harry’s selection. Harry expressed his “respect” for Mrs Tillman and her “advocacy for Pat’s legacy.” The Duke also spoke about his bond with his own mother, which comes ahead of the anniversary of her death.
