Mangaluru: Environment conservation is a symbol of our collective social responsibility, said KV Prabhakar, the media adviser to the chief minister of Karnataka.
He emphasised the importance of journalist organisations in promoting social responsibility during the ‘Hasire Usire’ afforestation event held on Saturday. The event, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association, Mangalore Press Club, and the forest department, highlighted the role of media in supporting public welfare through socially oriented programmes.
Prabhakar commended the association for setting an example in the state with unique initiatives like villagestays and Brand Mangaluru.
Shivananda Tagadur, president of the Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association, appreciated the journalists’ efforts in planting trees and showing concern for the environment. The event, presided over by Srinivas Nayak Indaje, president of the DKWJA, was attended by several dignitaries, including ACF, Mangaluru, Sridhar.
