Do some shopping at two new stores that opened at the Outlets of Des Moines


The first Ann Taylor Factory in Iowa opened at the Outlets of Des Moines.

Two more stores opened at the Outlets of Des Moines just as shopping season approaches. The open-air shopping center in Altoona offers more than 60 discount stores and dining outlets.

Here’s a look at what’s new.

Meet the new women’s clothing and accessories store

Iowa now has its first Ann Taylor Factory Store. Shoppers can find everything from dresses and suits to separates and casual wear in regular and petite sizes. The 4,000-square-foot store also features accessories and shoes. Find it in Suite 580.

The closest Ann Taylor store is in the Regency, the upscale shopping mall in Omaha.

A new pop culture store opens

Specialty retailer Hot Topic opened a 2,503-square-foot store filled with music, entertainment, and pop culture merchandise. Shoppers will find a wide selection of band-related apparel and accessories, licensed merchandise, and fashion apparel and accessories.

Hot Topic got its start in 1989 and now offers more than 630 stores in the U.S. and Canada, and online shop at HotTopic.com. Find it in Suite 905.

Hot Topic also has locations at Merle Hay Mall and Jordan Creek Town Center.

What else recently opened at the Outlets of Des Moines?

Rally House opened at the Outlets of Des Moines. The store with licensed pro and college gear now has six locations in Iowa.

Rally House: The specialty sports store now has four shops in the Des Moines metro and two more in Ames and Coralville. Rally House, which just opened, offers apparel, gifts, home decor and other merchandise while representing local NCAA, NFL, NBA, MLB, and MLS teams. The 3,995-square-foot store takes over Suite 620 at the center.

Fernando’s + Fast Bites: A roster of burritos comes to the Outlets of Des Moines with the September opening of Fernando’s + Fast Bites, a new food pavilion that combines local eateries Fernando’s Mexican Grill and Fast Bites. On the Fast Bites side of Suite 670, find American fare, while the Fernando’s Mexican Grill side serves freshly made tortillas and burritos stuffed with the customer’s choice of fillings.

What already opened in 2023?

Cole Haan now has a boutique at the Outlets of Des Moines.

Spencer’s: The home of trendy and fad-based goods opened in June in a 2,595-square-foot space. Spencer’s offers tees, body jewelry, décor and more.

Cole Haan Outlet: A new 3,000-square-foot Cole Haan Outlet that opened in May offers men’s and women’s dress and casual footwear, belts, hosiery, handbags, gloves, scarves, hats, outerwear, and sunglasses. The store takes over Space 705.

Merrell:Merrell offers shoes ranging from hiking, trail running, and boots, to slip-ons, sandals, and flip flops. The 2,807-square-foot store takes over Space 585 at the outdoor shopping center.
