Coronation Royal Performing Arts set to begin another season

It is the fall in Paintearth County, which means that a new season for Coronation Royal Performing Arts is set to kick off.

The first show is set to take place on Nov. 4 and will feature Jake Vaadeland, an award-winning Saskatchewan-based country crooner.

Vaadeland and his four-piece band, featuring a banjo, bass guitar and electric guitar, will provide an “old-style” interactive show with bluegrass and rockabilly themes.

“It’s old-fashioned entertainment,” said Vaadeland, in a recent interview.

“We make sure everyone leaves with a smile.”

Vaadeland says that one of the distinguishing features of his group is they all sing around one, old-style microphone.

“We have a fun time,” said Vaadeland.

Vaadeland is a multiple-award-winning Saskatchewan Music Awards artist, having won four in 2021, followed by Album of the Year and Folks-Roots Artist of the Year in 2022.

Following Vaadeland, Amy Bishop will take the Coronation stage on Dec. 2, cover band Credence Clearwater Reprisal will take the stage on Jan. 6, 2024, a “Taste-of-Showcase” evening will take place on Feb. 3, and finally, the season will close with Raine Hamilton on March 16.

“There’s a mix of many different genres of music,” said Cindy Heidecker, one of the volunteers behind Coronation Royal Performing Arts.

Heidecker notes that the “Taste-of-Showcase” evening will be a “longer night” as it will feature three different emerging artists, in multiple different genres.

The format for the season will be the same as years past, and season tickets will be available for purchase until Nov. 4. Meals for each of the shows will be available until one week before each of the five performances.

“There’s a little bit of savings with the season tickets,” said Heidecker.

Tickets are available through L and C Bookkeeping and can be purchased by e-transfer as well, saving out-of-town people a trip in.

Each of the shows has Facebook events, with links to artist information, which can be seen by anyone on the internet whether they have a Facebook account or not.
