“In that first set, they were just playing really loose and playing their game,” Edin said. “They were just being patient and aggressive with it. The third set was just another great mind shift. They got a little tight in the second set. They regrouped and talked going into the third set. They knew what they needed to do and were aggressive again. They went out and played their game.”

Noska-Rutten advanced to the championship semifinals 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27. They will face the No. 1 seeded team of Fetemeh Vang-Nana Vang from Blake. The Vang pair opened with a 6-0, 6-2 win and then defeated Ally Mersman-Macy Sohre of Maple River 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

“We’re going to get some rest and hopefully go in feeling as loose and prepared as possible,” Edin said. “They’re really great. I got to watch them some today. They move well and communicate well so it will be really fun tennis to watch (Friday).”

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
