Kylie Jenner’s Khy apparel line is at the center of a developing controversy.
Just two days after launching her apparel line, the reality star-turned-entrepreneur is accused of design theft by a competitor, Betsy Johnson, who is eager to differentiate herself from the “pretty and punk” icon, Betsy Johnson.
Betsy Johnson claimed on Wednesday via Instagram Stories that she had shared her creative conceptions, language, and line sheets with Kylie Jenner’s team.
She claims that they incorporated her concepts into the Khy clothing line without giving her proper credit.
Betsy Johnson labels as “trashy” what she perceives to be the appropriation of her ideas.
Johnson revealed in her Instagram post, “We emailed Kylie and her entire team at @products.ltd with our concepts, language, and a line sheet 6 MONTHS AGO.”
She voiced her disagreement by saying, “IINTERESTING CONCEPT KYLIE:… INTERESTING. Thanks for the co-sign … F—k your support.”
As a seasoned creative director, stylist, and consultant, Johnson has collaborated with renowned brands such as Luis DJavier and the darling of the Kardashian-Jenners, Balenciaga.
Notably, she has collaborated with Kanye West on a number of initiatives, including the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collection.
